Baked Oatmeal Apple, A Taste of Home

What can taste more like homey goodness than baked apple and oatmeal?  Make breakfast time extra special and extra healthy with this easy pairing.  I also like this treat as a hearty, wholesome late night snack.

Ingredients:

An apple

Oatmeal, individual packet, or about 1/4 cup oats

Optional: raisins and sliced almonds

Cut your apple in half (or more) and take out the core.  Place in a little oven safe dish, or make one out of tinfoil just a little larger than the apple.  Pour your oatmeal over the apple.  Then pour in about half a cup of water.  An easy way to do this is to just fill your now empty oatmeal packet (if using) with water.

Sprinkle some raisins and sliced almonds on top for additional nutrition, taste and texture.

Bake at 375 degrees for about half an hour.  You may also be able to do this in the microwave for a few minutes instead, I haven’t tried this method.  Let me know how it goes if you try it!

The apple is so tender, it falls apart when you touch your spoon to it.  You can eat the baked oatmeal apple as is or with milk.  Jump up.
