Easy Deluxe Scalloped Potatoes

February 26, 2011

These Easy Deluxe Scalloped Potatoes are over the top in every way except effort!  Make them immediately!  Impress your guests or family!

6 potatoes

2 cups cream, the higher the percentage the better, use 35% if you are trying to impress company!

1 cup grated cheese: Gruyere is the very best tasting for this recipe, but I generally use old white cheddar for cost effectiveness.

4 tablespoons herbs: I used 1 tablespoon each of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, but this list is flexible.

1/4 cup butter

Wash and slice your potatoes thinly.  Scatter half of the potatoes in the bottom of a 9×9 baking dish.

Sprinkle half of the herbs (and maybe some salt and pepper if you wish) over the potatoes.

Sprinkle half of the cheese on top of the potatoes.

Use the second half of all the ingredients to make another layer exactly like the first: potatoes, herbs, then cheese on top.

Heat the cream and butter together in a little pot.  I also threw some thinly sliced garlic into the cream mixture for extra pizzazz.

Pour the cream mixture over the potatoes.

Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour until the top is nicely browned.

Mega-delicious side dish.  Keeps well too, I made mine on Sunday night and added it to my lunches for Monday through Friday.

Makes 6-8 side dish servings. Jump up.
